Candied walnut and crystalline sugar sweetness dominate a complex, nutty palate. The texture is smooth and rounded, with a pronounced warming, spirity note on the finish.
Produced from the 1965 Douro harvest, this Colheita developed in wooden casks before bottling. Krohn's account describes a dry growing season followed by alternating rain and cooler weather around harvest, with the better wines made during the cooler, dry interval. Colheita bottling dates vary, reflecting different lengths of cask maturation.
