Musky aromas, old books and brown sugar give way to a rounded, sweet entry. Woody, cedar-box flavours are threaded with fine acidity, building to a pungent finish with a strikingly sharp, mouth-watering edge.
Bastardo, also known as Trousseau, has a long but limited presence on Madeira. Specialist accounts identify 1927 as the only vintage Bastardo made during the first half of the twentieth century. Leacock's bottling is distinct from other houses' releases, and its precise original source remains uncertain.
