Dense prune aromas are accompanied by spice and tobacco. Concentrated red fruit fills a fleshy, chewy palate, with pronounced tannic grip and a firm, substantial structure.
De Krans lies near Calitzdorp in the Gamka River Valley, on a property whose family history dates to 1890. The 2005 blends Tinta Barocca, Touriga Nacional, Souzao and Tinta Roriz from poor, well-drained soils. Fortified with unmatured brandy spirit, it matured for twenty months in 4,000-litre barrels.
