Origin & history

Masataka Taketsuru founded Miyagikyo in 1969 as Nikka's second distillery, in a forested valley west of Sendai. The site uses soft water from the Nikkawa River. Steam-heated pot stills with bulbous necks and rising lyne arms help produce the distillery's delicate, floral and fruity malt spirit.
