Emmanuel Brochet's Rose de Saignee Extra Brut is a vinous Champagne made from Pinot Meunier. Skin contact gives it a distinct red-fruit character, while restrained dosage preserves a direct expression of fruit and spice.

Ripe red berries and wild strawberry are lifted by warm spice. Blood orange brings a tangy counterpoint, with a subtle medlar note beneath the fruit and an intense, vinous character on the palate.
Brochet began producing Champagne in 1997 at Villers-aux-Noeuds, on the western side of the Montagne de Reims. His Rose de Saignee uses Pinot Meunier, with colour extracted through contact with the grape skins. It belongs to his small-scale approach to expressive grower Champagne and is distinct from the later Rose d'Assemblage cuvee.
