Leather, chestnut, brambly black fruit and tobacco form a complex bouquet. Softened red-berry flavours fill a medium-bodied palate, framed by firm tannins, with bell pepper and sandalwood on a long, harmonious finish.
The estate harvested the 1983 between 28 September and 18 October. After a cool, wet spring and a stormy summer, warm, dry weather from mid-September improved picking conditions; the final blend contained 73% Cabernet Sauvignon.
