The refreshing Gimlet is made with gin, lime juice, and sugar. As the story goes, this gin sour dates back to the 18th century when British sailors needed citrus to prevent scurvy, a disease caused by the deficiency of vitamin C, so they mixed the citrus juice with gin.
Combine 2 oz dry gin, ¾ oz fresh lime juice and ¾ oz sugar syrup in a shaker with ice. Shake hard for 10-15 seconds, then double-strain into a chilled coupe. Garnish with a thin lime wheel.
